Hi,
I started out with a small hydroponics system right after christmas
this year, I had some issues getting things up-and-running (LEAKS!) but
for the most part the system operates fine now. My only problem is
this: I do not get very good growth. I'm trying to track down exactly
what might have caused the problem. I did have some issues with PH
going out of whack but I think that I mostly resolved them. I do have 2
major weaknesses to my system right now. #1, I don't have a very good
light source, the light source I'm using is just a basic flourescent
fixture. #2, I'm not sure about this one but I am concerned because
there is no reliable CO2 source. The garden is located in the basement
of my house which is about 40x100, so there is a large amount of open
space. I am concerned about pulling air in from outside especially in
winter temperatures can reach absurdly cold levels and temperatures can
fluctuate wildly. I'm really afraid of shocking the plants.
So, which of these two issues (or both) could be the cause?
Also, anyone know of a good TDS/PH/DO meter? I'm looking for something
that I can hook up to my computer via RS232 and pull the data into
RRDTool and track those factors.
