Ban on magic shrooms in Holland
The Dutch government is about to ban all magic mushrooms. Ministers
Klink and Hirsch Ballin decided to schedule them as hard drugs.
The issue has been discussed for a few months, mainly because of its
judicial aspects. Six months ago, the Second Chamber did already
insist on a total ban after some mushroom-related incidents got heavy
publicity in the press.
In Amsterdam magic mushrooms were being sold in souvenir shops lately.
These shops had one standing fridge for soft drinks, and another for
mushrooms.
But these harsh measures still come unexpected.
The Ministry has officially confirmed that the sale and cultivation of
magic mushrooms will be punished heavily.
More details, such as the exact date on which the ban will be issued,
have not been published yet.
