OWENSBORO - Investigators looking into meth making tell NEWS 25 they
were able to link 13 people in Owensboro, to one man in Indiana. They
did it all by searching through logs at local pharmacies and now they
say everyone involved is charged.

"This law has been very effective for us in law enforcement," Capt.
Jeff Jones from the Daviess County Sheriff's Department says.

That Kentucky law is from 2005, when limits were placed on the amount
of pseudoephedrine someone could buy, and pharmacies were required to
keep a log of who was buying what.

Jones says when you sign that log his detectives also monitor it, and
since late December, they noticed consistent pill purchases from the
same people.

"Ultimately, it was determined by the investigators that this was an
organized ring and that these individuals were connected," Jones says.

By just looking at the records, Jones says investigators noticed the
group of 12 would go into a pharmacy three or four at time, and each
buy boxes of pseudoephedrine. The next day the same thing, just at a
different pharmacy.

Investigators determined all the pills they bought were going to
Evansville's Dennis Dunn. Jones says Dunn was using the pills to make
meth.

The two-month investigation netted 13 people and almost 1400 pills.
That's enough to make 90 grams of meth.

Jones says everyone involved is charged with engaging in organized
crime and felony drug charges. Dunn is charged in Indiana with
conspiracy to manufacture. He his currently in the Spencer County jail.
