DXM & language acquisition

by Bill Shroyer <BillShroyer@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Jul 20, 2008 at 12:55 PM

I'm in the process of learning French. I've noticed that if I'm on a
DXM buzz, I feel like I'm actually understanding more. There seems to
be a part of the mind that tries to tune out language you don't
understand - one of many "filtering" mechanisms utilized by the brain
so that we don't go bat-**** insane from all the sensory input we're
subjected to at any given moment - but DXM seems to reduce the power
of that particular filter.

Has anyone else tried studying a foreign language while under the
influence of DXM, or even just listened to a foreign language
broadcast in a language you -weren't- studying, and noticed some
things were much easier to understand? :-?
