There are three major categories. One isn't really "damage", but may
seem that way for a period of time, that being a lowering in the
number of s*****onin neurons. They'll come back (the same thing can
happen to people who use SSRIs, and then stop). Then there is
NMDA-antagonist neurotoxicity (Olney's Lesions), which is only likely
with heavy third- and fourth-plateau users - it would probably be
experienced as being "spaced out", or something.
The other one, however, comes from redosing, taking Delsym, or
especially, taking Coricidin. It's a chemical imbalance, caused by
the overload of s*****onin and sigma-opioid effects one experiences on
those crazy, hallucinogenic trips. Hopefully, with time, they would
heal - but in many cases, I'm sure they don't. :(
