Witness describes how boys were executed inside crack house
DETROIT -- In a voice devoid of emotion, Charles Moore, a 39-year-old
crack addict and the father of six children sat calmly on the witness
stand in Wayne Circuit Court and described the execution-style murders
of two young boys, who were shot to death inside a crack house on the
city's west side.
"I heard a gun shot and ran upstairs," Moore said setting a scene
where he and five others, including Sonya O'Neal, 38, and Robert Reed,
36, were ransacking a house on Mansfield looking for money and drugs
after forcing their way in at gunpoint.
O'Neal and Reed are on trial this week before Wayne Circuit Court
Judge Craig S. Strong in the deaths of Orlando Herron 13, and Darren
Johnson, 11. The pair also is accused of shooting 23-year-old Ronell
Thompson in the incident on Feb. 23.
"Sonya O'Neal was standing over the two kids on the floor. I saw Reed
standing over Ronell," he said. He said Reed held a rifle on Thompson,
whose hands were tied behind his back with duct tape.
