I have used this traditional Peruvian beverage for about 2 months, 5-6
bags per day of the Delisse brand, purchased straight from Peru. This
is a concern, as I live in a small town with a small post office, and
have been concerned about ****pments arriving from Peru. FYI, this
product can easily be purchased within the US, but at much greater
expense.
To be legally ex****table the leaf must go through a process of
"decocanization," which removes almost all of the cocaine content, but
still leaves enough that it will produce a positive on the
deliberately sensitive tests for this. Sure enough, I tested positive
on a strip test I purchased over the internet. Not a problem for me in
my current employment.
The effect upon my overall health and well-being has been profoundly
positive. I've found Mate de Coca to be a gentle but highly effective
stimulant. I feel pleasantly energized and sleep like a child. I am
assuming that this is due mainly to the extremely high content of
various nutrients in the leaf, as is re****ted on several sites selling
and discussing this beverage.
There is a frequently mentioned study done at Harvard, perhaps from
the mid-70's, but I have been unable to locate it, in which the
nutrient content of Coca leaf is compared to at least 10 other "foods"
known to be nutrient dense. Does anyone know where this study can be
located? The Harvard site produced nothing that I could find, and they
might be understandably reticent to make it available.
Thanks for any help.
