Can't tolerate pain meds any more. What's wrong?

by "NOYB" <noyb@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Feb 15, 2006 at 08:15 AM

I'm not sure where to post this maybe someone can help. I've had chronic
back pain for 15 years now. There was a time I could take pain med's and
tranquilizers every fours hours. I've been on and off them but I'm
noticing
now that while before I could take 8 percocets ever 24 hours, I can now
only
take a couple of percocets every 24 hours. If I exceed this and push it
too
far my skin itches and burns I get strange pigmentation spots around my
neck
and just feel like the pain killers are making me feel more sick than
relieved. I've had lots of experience with dependence and getting of
medications but this feeling is different. It's like they're turning toxic
on me. That's the best way I can describe it. If I lay off for a few days
it
doesn't happen right away but if I exceed my a couple of pills every 24
hours I'm sick again. I've researched bad liver or kidney symptoms and
this
doesn't seem to fit. Any idea what could be going wrong?

Many thanks,

Steve
